When I first started to learn HTML, CSS, PHP etc I offered to build a website for my cousin in the UK – the best way to learn something is to have a project to work on. Since that time there have been a few occasions where I have created a site for other family or friends for free. Here they are…
My first ever attempt at creating a website! I’ll never forget this one obviously! At this time I was even delusional enough to think that one day I might be a full time web designer! Oh how little I knew!
It is written in HTML/PHP and uses a database for Content Management. It’s very rudimentary though and I had to write up a heap of documentation on how to update it. I didn’t know about WordPress at the time and even if I did I wouldn’t have had a clue how to make this site in WordPress.
In their retirement, my Dad and a couple of his friends started a business selling local audio tours of areas in and around the Southern Highlands. I designed and developed a website for them which is shown below.
Unbeknownst to me they already had hired a designer for their website. In the end I created the website using the designer’s design. That’s the last image in the gallery above.
This was a site I did for a friend of my Mum’s. She is very much into acting and wanted a site to showcase her experience etc. I really enjoyed creating this site and I am actually pretty proud of how it turned out (for a non designer type like me!)
It uses WordPress and I created the theme from scratch.
This is a site I did for my wife’s cousin’s husband who is obviously a painter from Sydney! They haven’t added all the content yet so it looks a little bleak.
It is a WordPress site and I created the theme myself. I’m not that happy with the look of the site but it’s the best I could do with my limited design skills! Although I think my Michelle McAleer site wasn’t really that bad!
